My thesis work focuses on characterising a commercially available bacterial strain: Methylobacterium symbioticum SB0023/3 (BlueN, Corteva Agriscience). By studying its genome, metabolic requirements and interactions with different holobionts (plants and their associated microorganisms) of maize and soft wheat, the aim is to refine our understanding of the mechanisms of action of this bacterium, helping to stimulate plant growth and improve nutrient availability for the plant.
